Mesirow a man of many hats

This May, Aspen is presented with a pool of six strong candidates looking to fill two seats on City Council. I respect all of them, but one in particular brings the requisite charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to distinguish himself in an incredibly strong field.

In the four years I have known Skippy Mesirow, I’ve known him to be fully engaged and extremely committed to this community. His track record is proof: He is a founder and two-term chair of the Aspen Next Generation Advisory commission; he is the current chairman of the Aspen Planning and Zoning Commission; and he also has been directly involved in the launch of Aspen Entrepreneurs, the Aspen Mentorship Program and Aspen City of Wellbeing. Having worked alongside him on multiple projects, I can personally attest to his incredible drive, work ethic and passion.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a single week where Skippy is not volunteering his time toward making this community a better place, be it participating in fundraisers for a local mental health nonprofit to launching community initiatives to lending an empathetic ear to a friend.

This is a guy who is truly present! And he is always trying to find ways to move Aspen into the future while still paying deference to the history and people that have made me proud to call Aspen my place of birth and my chosen home.

I encourage you to go onto his website, http://www.skippyforcouncil.com, where you can find a time to meet with him over coffee, an uphill skin or a yoga class. He has my vote, and he should have yours, too. You won’t be disappointed.
