Letter: Wyatt, one lucky pup
I would like to thank Chad from the Aspen Animal Shelter for going the extra mile and calling Valley Emergency Pet Care in Basalt. He heard from Kelly Potter (who found Wyatt with Ty) that she had seen the same dog on the Arbaney-Kittle Trail. Chad took the information and called the clinic in Basalt asking if it had a report of a lost dog. Sure enough, it did, matching the description of Wyatt. Chad then passed on the owner’s information to me as I was at the Aspen Animal Hospital having Wyatt treated. I would like to thank the Aspen Animal Hospital for the wonderful treatment Wyatt received. Not knowing the story behind Wyatt nor if there was an owner, its documentation of Wyatt’s condition was instrumental had this not ended up being a lost dog. With Wyatt having no identification or chip and no record of a lost dog matching Wyatt’s description from the Sheriff’s Office nor from the shelter, he might not have been reunited as quickly if Chad had not made the phone call. The network we have in this valley is incredible. The shelter plays an intricate role in my profession. I also would like to thank Ty and Kelly. You two made my job easy! You had Wyatt caught and ready to deliver to me when I arrived as well as the picture you took of Wyatt under the four-wheeler that Chad passed on to me. It was so very helpful with identifying him. What a great community we live in. All the people of Pitkin County do so much for me by being my eyes and ears, as I am not able to be everywhere all the time. Thank you all!
