Letter: ‘Women for Wildlands’ not just for women

A letter to Scott Tipton:

I am writing to inform you of my opposition to House Resolution 3650, the State National Forest Management Act of 2015. As an 11-year resident of the Roaring Fork Valley in western Colorado and avid user of public lands for the purpose of recreation, I feel strongly that these lands belong to all American people and should therefore remain under the management of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and not be passed on to states for privatization, ultimately leading to the continued economic prosperity of corporate America.

Watching firsthand the transformation and impact of oil and gas exploration and extraction in western Colorado has been a disturbing education. I do not believe that the states are capable of proper management, nor do I believe they would act in the best interests of its residents.

I sincerely thank you for your consideration in voting “no” on HR 3650.
