Letter: Voting for the best candidate for Pitkin County Commissioner requires this understanding

The city of Aspen and Pitkin County are community and commodity. There is no way to separate those two attributes when creating local policy, and the balance is very important to local economic viability, which enhances your personal well-being. While many residents wish that they could freeze the area or turn back the clock, each must remember that before they arrived it was a different community, one where its nature requires it to evolve and hold people and historical elements as precious.

The commissioner requires a perspective that comes from having lived and invested there, watching that evolution. No one gets this better than Scott Writer, who grew up in town, went to Aspen public schools and participates in the plethora of cultural, community and political events. Scott contributes economically as a businessman who engages with the depth required and is involved in local growth with a finger on community and economic pulse.

As a born-and-raised Aspenite, a classmate of Scott’s, a part of the oldest family-run hotel (Mountain Chalet) in Aspen and one who looks at politics with an independent and researched ideology, I support the attributes and character that Scott Writer will bring to the office of Pitkin County commissioner.

The recognized, two-party polarization divides community. Look toward his independent creation of a collaborative environment and vote Scott Writer for Pitkin County commissioner.Voting for the best candidate for Pitkin County Commissioner requires this understanding
