Letter: Thanks to the hospital
Joe High and I are mentors at the Aspen High School for the Health Career Club. It is our goal to ensure that our students get an overall idea of all the various careers one can pursue in this ever-changing field. Our students have the privilege of going into the various departments in our hospital and observing procedures and oftentimes helping out. First, I’d like to thank the Aspen Valley Hospital for allowing our kids this experience, as I’ve been to many hospitals to check out their volunteer program and the kids are stuck at a welcome desk.
We’d like to thank the following departments for their cooperation: same-day surgery, emergency room, diagnostic imaging, birth center, patient care unit, pharmacy, lab services and physical therapy. Joe sets up speakers for our monthly meetings to give the students an informal setting to discuss their practices and how they decided what field to go into. They discuss their background and their personal path leading up to their final career. I’d like to thank the following for taking time out of their busy schedules to spend some great quality time with our students: Dr. Von Stade, Dr. Golden and Dr. Fraser.
