Letter: Thanks for successful Earthbeat summer music camps
November 10, 2014
The staff and board of directors of the Earthbeat Summer Music Camps wish to pass on a huge thank you to all of our singing participants, parents, local schools and grantors for making our 2015 Summer Music Camps a huge success!
A huge thanks go out to our grantors, an amazing group of unsung heroes that give so much back to our community. Giving selflessly of their time, energy and their gift of grants. The ladies of the Aspen Thrift Shop and the board of directors for the Aspen Elks Lodge have been nothing short of brilliant. Their generous financial donations make our scholarship and teacher appreciation programs possible. Our community is so blessed to have groups such as these.
Lastly, a special heartfelt thanks to my amazing talented staff whose love carried me through the summer. My mother died last year, and the wind was taken out of my sails. My staff stepped up and helped me so that Earthbeat would continue. You are a living example that music and the arts have a tremendous positive effect on people's lives. You make the difference that makes Earthbeat Summer Music Camps such a unique and valuable asset to our community. You challenge me to grow and you inspire me.
Thanks go out to our incredible band. David Harding, Amy Hawes, Mike Luciano and Ellen Stapenhorst whose amazing musical talents make Earthbeat Rock. We couldn't do it without you. Plus, you cover this old hack from messing up too badly. Thanks to Karen D'Attillo for putting together the 2015 John Denver Medley.
Special thanks go out to the Pine Creek Cookhouse Restaurant. To my owners John and Juliet Wilcox, thank you for allowing me to break away from my responsibilities as a manager. It was the help of my fellow managers Claire Clarke and Staci James covering my shifts that allowed me the time to keep the Earthbeat dream and musical experience alive.
On that note, as to our future, a shout out to our alumni in Glenwood Springs, yes, we are coming back next summer — plan on it. We just need to lock in our music camp location. And to our Aspen young singers, we will endeavor to make 2015 a breakthrough year with an Earthbeat Summer Music Camp. Location to be determined. As for Basalt: Please bring back River Days and Earthbeat will return.

Lastly, thanks to my board of directors, Scott and Sue Hankinson. For without their vision, faith and persistent, loving kicks in the rear, I may given up and closed Earthbeat's doors. We so much need more like them on our board. I couldn't ask for better, more loyal teammates — I'm lucky to call you friends.
We live in an amazing valley, it's the people (like I mentioned above) who make it a truly wonderful place to call home.
