Letter: Thank you, Aspen Middle School sixth-graders
I wanted to thank Mark Munger’s and Matt Fields’ sixth-grade classes for their help with Pathfinders during the last week of school. The Aspen Middle School sixth-graders take a week out of school to do Service Learning Week.
What an incredible thing for sixth-graders to take a week out to serve others in our community. These kids made meals for our clients, made blankets, planted flowers in pots they had painted, made sugar scrubs and did a whole day of manual labor for some of our clients who needed it.
They learned about cancer and illnesses and grief and loss from the people they helped serve. They were an amazing group of students, and I felt honored to work with them. Thank you to Principal Craig Rogers for your support and to Munger and Fields for all of your hard work and commitment to these kids (and Pathfinders) to make this week possible. When the kids gathered the last day to deliver the gifts to the clients and talk about what the week meant to them, I literally had tears in my eyes listening to them talk about how good it felt to give back to others in need. One sixth-grader said that making other people who are struggling smile made them feel like they had really made a difference. What a gift. Pathfinders and our clients thank all of you who helped!
