Letter: Support Hawk Greenway

I support Hawk Greenway for Pitkin County commissioner. He distinguishes himself from Greg and Scott in many ways, and I encourage you to vote for him in the Tuesday primary.

All three candidates are longtime residents of our valley who have multiple associations with our community and who care about the quality of life here. Hawk stands out as the strongest candidate. He has an extremely keen intellect that enables him to understand and navigate complex issues. He has 18 years of experience volunteering for the Open Space and Trails Board and this role gives him insight into the responsibilities of a county commissioner, exposure to how our local government operates and skills for collaborating with county employees and citizen boards.

Via the Open Space and Trails Board duties and previous employment as a ranch manager, Hawk is acutely knowledgeable about the intricacies of land conservation and water rights matters. He has been instrumental in preserving much of the Pitkin County lands, habitat, wildlife and trails that you and I cherish. Hawk has commercial and private pilot ratings, knows (and loves) aviation and can scrutinize the airport issues from many angles. Hawk supports efforts to provide and create affordable housing for a healthy percentage of our county’s employees. What is important for you to know is that Hawk is a doer, not one to sit on the sidelines. He works hard to make things happen and eagerly springs to action.

Endorsed by the Democratic Party, he is an independent thinker who is not beholden to any purse strings or entrenched interests. To learn about his positions, access the recent Grassroots TV Squirm Night program and the Brent Gardner-Smith candidate interviews.

Vote for Hawk!
