Snowmass Village is being green

This week, Snowmass Village welcomes the Wanderlust Festival to its stunning surroundings. We are thrilled to host this festival and encourage sustainable celebrations that will keep our backyard beautiful and our community thriving! In fact, if you haven’t heard, town staff and the Environmental Advisory Board developed a Green Events Checklist — http://www.tosv.com/greenevents — to help events in Snowmass Village reduce their environmental impact. So far this voluntary effort has been a tremendous success!

Our recent Ragnar Trail Relay and Snowmass Mountain Fest are excellent examples of events that, due to their own environmental commitments and partnership from the town, took steps that went far beyond the checklist’s measures. Ragnar’s efforts ranged from solar-powered electrical equipment to composting, while Snowmass Mountain Fest worked proactively to maximize the event’s recycling capacity and offset its CO2 emissions.

These green-minded celebrations are an inspiring start to a sustainable summer. Please check out our new Green Events Checklist and do your part to reduce the mass. And for more recycling tips, follow the conversation on twitter using #ReducetheMass.
