Letter: Save Outdoor Ed in Marble
There is a program that happens in our school system that has been coveted and cherished for the past 45 years: eighth-grade Outdoor Ed at Marble Basecamp. This is a priceless rite of passage that is a critical piece of our culture, a time in our eighth-graders’ lives for being in the backcountry, starting to transition from middle school to high school, creating their team, experiencing compassion and giving back, pressing their physical and mental capabilities, and learning to be alone, really alone. This place will be sold if we can’t raise the funds. Saving open space is our greatest gift for future generations. Will you go to http://www.avlt.org and contribute with all your heart and passion? The Aspen Valley Land Trust is a rock-star group of folks who do the work of exactly why we live here. They are amazing, and we are blessed to have this group in our lives. We really don’t want our grandchildren to ask us why we couldn’t all pull together to save this magical place. Time is running out. Please consider any amount.
