Rec center is win-win for midvalley
The Mid Valley Recreation Center is a wonderful project that can benefit many people of various ages on so many levels. As more children attend schools in the mid-valley, wouldn't it be nice to have a youth center for them that's closer to home?
Even the most dedicated outdoor kids can use some indoor places for active play, especially when the weather is bad. New parents can stay active by taking advantage of the child care that will be provided during workouts. And our mid-valley senior population is about to increase, when the housing center near Basalt's Southside neighborhood is completed. A recreation center will benefit them, too, by providing a place to swim year-round, as well as other fitness activities. Local businesses, especially nearby restaurants, will also take in additional revenue when we have a rec center that's able to host swimming, hockey, gymnastics and other tournaments throughout the year (just ask anyone who attended the lacrosse tournament at Crown Mountain Park this spring about the buzz).
Plus, we'll have another venue for the growing slate of community events being held in the mid-valley. Healthy options, increased local business, and the ability to stay local — please vote yes on progress and choices for our residents, neighbors and our children.
