Letter: Planting the seed

Planting the seed

Ahh, spring, when a young person’s fancy turns to — gardening.

In Basalt there are two community gardens that will complete your heart’s desire. The Grace-Shehi garden by the Basalt High School is now open for its third year. The Homestead garden in “quaint” old Town Basalt is entering its fifth year. Both gardens have space available for you to raise flowers or food that you know is free of toxic chemicals, fresh and healthy for you.

Garden plots are being assigned now. This is an opportunity to join a community of gardeners so if you are a novice, other gardeners are there who can give you good advice.

The weather is finally turning warm so it’s time to plant your lettuce, radishes and spinach. Don’t miss out on this. Get more information at basaltcommunitygardens@gmail.com or call me at 927-4629.
