Letter: Our kids understand the importance of giving back

It is so wonderful how our schools instill the importance of service in their curriculum. In the high school, a specific number of hours of service are required in order to graduate. Our kids understand the importance of giving back and being a part of a community that reaches out to one another. What a gift for them as they head out into the world of college or jobs.

Fiona Lupi-Peate, Olivia Carr and Devin Randell are the leaders of the Pathfinder Angels Club at the high school. These girls and their club members have already given so much to Pathfinders. Pathfinders provides counseling and volunteer services to people with cancer, serious illness and grief and loss. These high schoolers make meals for our clients each week and deliver to them. They also have provided cookie decorating during the holidays for the elementary school students who have lost parents or siblings. They have reached their arms out and given to our community in a beautiful way.

I want to send out a very special thank you to Fiona Lupi-Peate and Oliva Carr who worked so hard to create a Valentine’s fundraiser for Pathfinders at Aspen High School. It was a huge success and these girls spent hours collecting raffle prizes in town from local businesses, making and decorating cookies and organizing this event. Pathfinders is thankful beyond words. We couldn’t do what we do without support like this.
