Letter: Not going to buy Krabloonik

I am writing in response in Mary Lou MacEachen Wasco’s Jan. 30 letter in The Aspen Times, “Lies and deceit by Krabloonik foes.”

MacEachen Wasco, you are entitled to support your brother who is charged with eight counts of animal cruelty. However, I can assure you that I have no interest in owning a dog-sled business nor in receiving funds from any aspect of a dog-sled business.

I do, however, have an interest in all matters pertaining to the care and welfare of the Krabloonik dogs, as I have since 2008. I also have made it publicly clear that I support the sale of Krabloonik to take the dogs out of harm’s way.

The emails you refer to are in fact in the courts and available to the public. I also have copies and would be happy to share them, along with several of the emails that were not presented in the court documents.

In the meantime, we will continue to pursue public pressure to ensure that the Krabloonik dogs are properly cared for and we will continue to fight for regulations and oversight that will ensure their safety in the future. The court procedures will continue to play out regarding the eight seized Krabloonik dogs that were malnourished and in desperate need of veterinary care.
