Letter: Monks to return to Aspen

As a part of the Sacred Arts of Tibet Tour that was started in 1989 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and first supported in Aspen by John Denver, the monks of the Gaden Shartse Phukhang Monastery and Aspen Tibet’s two-week seminar provided a variety of lectures, events and empowerment sessions. It was all made possible by Aspen’s warm reception and generous support through volunteer time, meal donations, donor support and the Red Brick Center for the Arts’ and O2’s space availability. Thank you to all involved through participation and donation!

It is an honor to provide enlightening experiences to the community and to announce the monks’ return visit Aug. 17 through 31, at which time we hope to provide a sacred sand-art mandala pending sponsorship and location availability. Alongside His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s goal of sharing and preserving the Tibetan culture, this tour is raising funds for the much-needed repair of a flooding and full dormitory.

For all interested in providing funds for the construction of a new dormitory or their return visit, reach out to Aspen Tibet on Facebook or serene@aspentibet.com. We also would love to hear your suggestions, requests and volunteer interest.

Tashi delek.
