Letter: Make development pay for itself
Ironic to see Bill Stirling assert that development of “Aspen the resort” should not pay its own way (“The balance between resort and town,” Commentary, The Aspen Times, Sept. 14). Voters are asked to excuse Base2 from fully mitigating for “Aspen the community’s” affordable-housing program. Yet Aspen’s affordable-housing program provides the roof over Bill’s own head. Is Bill willing to give up his own housing so developers can build-build-build out “Aspen the resort”? When voters support development that does not pay its own way, it makes it harder for Aspen to house our residents. Residents like Bill.
Vote “no” on 2B — Base 2.
