Letter: Know your body
Know your body
I read an article with interest the other day that was titled, “Reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia.” While this may express one school of thought, I would like to share some ideas from different research that I have been doing.
There is no doubt that exercise has many benefits that can benefit people in numerous ways.
The field of neuroplasticity has opened up new insights into concepts previously held. This area looks at how nerve cells and tissues can heal. This previously was not the case.
Our world has become more complex, stressful and toxic. As a result, there are more chronic and debilitating diseases than ever before. In some instances it is amazing to observe how resilient our bodies are.
An area that is now considered a significant factor to health issues including dementia and cancers, among others, are environmental toxins. You can see a YouTube video (www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aiLrNfha8I), that shows how a drop of mercury basically destroys a brain neuron. This helps explain why there is so much concern about amalgam mercury fillings. Root canals also are being looked at as factors in deteriorating health conditions.
Heavy metals are accumulating in our bodies at alarming rates. Detoxification is crucial in helping to restore or maintain health.
Sleep is also vitally important. Recent research shows that one of the benefits of sleep is to help the cerebrospinal fluid circulate. This removes the amyloids that often are associated with brain dysfunction. Improper sleep patterns often have adrenal fatigue as an underlying cause. Adrenal fatigue and exhaustion are epidemic in our society. This creates a domino effect, which leads to hormonal imbalance. Hormone imbalance affects the neurotransmitters in the brain. Often people use either sleep aids or psychotropic drugs without ever checking the neurotransmitter levels in their brains.
Many foods that people eat have chemicals in them that also are contributing to serious health issues. Sugar and numerous additives (with heavy metals in them) are poisoning people. Do you know what Coca-Cola does to your body?
Therapies such as cold laser-light therapy are showing promise in helping tissues to regenerate, including brain and nerve tissues.
The takeaway from this is that there are many things that can be done to address many of the chronic health issues our society is dealing with. It is your body, your choice.
