Letter: Keep sight of the real issue

Keep sight of the real issue

Please remember — this is about animal abuse. This is and has always been the focus of Voices for the Krabloonik Dogs. The District Attorney had eight animals seized from Krabloonik Kennels. The photos (supplied by PACFA of the Department of Agriculture) on 9News Tuesday night showed us what a thousand words could not convey — just how bad the abuse is. The District Attorney has said “this is a very important case.” I would go a step further and say it is critical for the health of the dogs and by extension the health of this community. These accusations have been serial and each time the dogs bear a larger and larger burden of the abuse.

I caution this community not to lose sight, once again, of the charge of animal abuse as the peripheral issues swirl around — the purchase of the business and the child custody case. Eventually, the Town of Snowmass Village needs to be held accountable for allowing this type of business to exist in its midst.

In the meantime, what is happening to the dogs right now? It does not take education to understand the District Attorney’s actions nor the photos of the abuse provided by PACFA. Snowmass Town Council, what have YOU been doing since Dec. 10 to stop animal abuse in your midst?
