Letter: Israel on the decline

Israel on the decline

Dear Editor:

The issue of women praying in Israel at the remnants of the second temple destroyed in the year 2002 is a disturbing problem. The Israeli courts ruled that women can pray at the Wall.

Five percent of the Israeli citizens who are Orthodox Jews say, “To hell with any legal decisions; we Orthodox will decide what is best. By civil disobedience, we will cancel the court’s order and attack women with radical Jews.” Women in Israel who are not even second-class citizens seem to have no rights.

No wonder Israel is losing friends and developing more enemies as it rushes away from democracy. If the Orthodox have their nose in the Bible, they are exempt from military service. They are paid by the Israeli taxpayers and have no respect for law and order.

Most nations die internally. Does Israel have no history books or clocks? Time and history are flowing against Israel because of its internal politics, occupation of 3.5 million Arabs and deteriorating social services because of money excessively spent in the West Bank. Thirty percent of Israelis are below the poverty line.

Sad but true.
