Letter: Inappropriate development
I have been attending the midvalley meetings regarding the Tree Farm development across Highway 82 from Willits. There are so many reasons to object to this development that I hope all readers will do their research and come to our last meeting Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Eagle County Community Building in El Jebel. This will be the last time to voice public comment. Come any time between 4 and 6:30 p.m. The Roaring Fork Planning Commission has been reviewing the application, and we, the community, must make our voices heard that we do not support another huge development in the midvalley. We expect a denial of this application. All the towns that make up the Roaring Fork have been diligent to maintain our mountain lifestyle and vernacular. Eagle County’s slice of our valley is the only portion where it feels like we are in suburban Denver. The Willits development is completely inappropriate for our lovely valley. This proposed huge development at the Tree Farm will be more of the same. We must demand a moratorium on all new building in the Eagle County portion of the Roaring Fork Valley until Willits is completely built out. We do not even know the full impact of Willits yet, so how could we possibly know in good faith that we can accommodate another giant development?
