Letter: Hypocritical traitors

Dear Editor:

Curious that those alleging “public interest” and “individual rights” as their motives for lawbreaking choose to seek refuge in countries that are exactly the opposite of ours when it comes to freedoms. China, Russia, Cuba — all rigidly authoritarian to a fault. Indeed, had Edward Snowden done such a thing in those countries, he would have been summarily shot.

And as for his friends at Wikileaks, I am still waiting for them to expose something — anything — from those same countries. But, alas, nary a leak to be had from behind the closed doors in Beijing, Moscow and Havana. And no free press to badger the government, either.

And, finally, as for Ecuador, a constrained press, questionable judiciary and less-than-open society again is found. But that seems not to bother these hypocrites.

Snowden and company are self-indulgent traitors.

Oh, and if you are worried about privacy, consider your bank, your credit-card company and Google as the real threats!
