Letter: Hospital took easy route
Just Wednesday, I learned that Dave Ressler has been re-recruited to be, yet again, the administrator of Aspen Valley Hospital, having resigned several years ago to seek employment in Arizona.
It is beyond my ken that the hospital’s search committee could not find a new and able candidate within the borders of this country, one with a fresh and modern approach, rather than a retread. Of course, it is Ressler’s right to change jobs, but the Aspen Valley Hospital medical board took the easy way out by not finding a new candidate and rehiring Ressler. Ressler has not demonstrated loyalty to Aspen Valley Hospital, and when he was there, it was said he lacked an understanding of the staff, creating an environment that was uncomfortable, with staff feeling a lack of support from the administration. Rehiring this man seems self-defeating, as he won’t bring fresh ideas to the fore, and the hospital will be set back by his return. Government regulations continue to expand, and Aspen Valley Hospital needs an intelligent and steady hand on the helm, not someone who isn’t certain which town he wants to live and work in.
Let Aspen Valley Hospital continue to seek the best of the best, and hire that person, so our hospital will be able to better serve this community by embracing the future, not a continuation of the past.
