Letter: Honoring American Indians in Aspen

The Aspen Ute Foundation hosted its 11th annual powwow exhibition in downtown Aspen on April 2.

This beautiful event, led by Roland McCook, brought together tribal members from the Ute, Lakota, Hopi, Dine’, Paiute and Cherokee nations. A huge crowd enjoyed the dancing and singing in full regalia by the performers and took great pleasure in joining for an intertribal snake dance.

Gratitude to all donors and individuals who made this event possible: Salvador Quezada, the city of Aspen, Aspen Skiing Co., Kevin Pasolli, Mark Borderik and many more.

Thank you to the following lodgings for their support: Mountain Chalet, Hotel Aspen, Annabelle Lodge, Hotel Element, St. Regis and Ritz-Carlton.

Deanne Vitrac-Kessler

Founder and director, Aspen Ute Foundation
