Heartfelt gratitude from the Thomas family

Dear friends,

Just as there are no words to describe the sorrow that we feel at the loss of our beautiful daughter Emily, there are also no words that can adequately express our gratitude for the extraordinary support and love that this entire community has shown to our family. It has lifted our hearts to realize how many lives Emily truly touched in her all-too-brief 18 years. She lived life with courage, grace, cheerfulness (and with a smile that could light up the world!).

Emily also possessed a giving spirit that will live on forever. This same giving spirit has been apparent in all of the actions, donations, thoughts and prayers that you have shared with us. From the many beautiful, thoughtful notes written to us, to the incredible people who kept us fed with wonderful meals, to those who generously donated to the Emily Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund, and to those of you who have just held us in your hearts, we cannot ever thank you enough.

Emily loved this valley, loved her small town of Basalt, loved all of her friends and her family. She knew how blessed we are to be surrounded by such amazing people. Emily would not have been surprised at all to see how this community came together to provide us with so much kindness and support. You will all be forever in our hearts.

With all our love and appreciation …

Paul, Sara and Matthew Thomas
