Letter: He made Aspen a better place
Stewart will be missed. He knew more music than any person I know. A gifted writer and a better listener, he could hear more music than any normal person could possibly handle — all genres — and seem to have an immediate intimate connection and intuitive understanding.
In most stories and interviews in the Times, he could make the reader believe a performer, or performance, or artist or album was unique and worthy of our time. Every story he wrote was an outstanding lecture in an ongoing appreciation of music class.
Whenever I saw Stew in town, no matter his deadline or next obligation, he always took time to chat, whether it was about hoops or music or our time as neighbors. I appreciate all that he did to make Aspen a better place.
