Letter: Growing together

There is a beautiful community garden in Basalt with space still available for you to dig in. It is located just west of Basalt High School on Pitkin County and Basalt open space. This is the Grace-Shehi Community Garden — it is not the high school’s garden and is not associated with Grace Church. The Grace-Shehi name comes from the names of the original settlers in the area. It is open to everyone who lives in the Roaring Fork Valley.

The garden gets all-day sun, and individual watering setups are easy to do. Newcomers and old hands will find it easy to grow a garden here. For additional information, email us at basaltcommunitygardens@gmail.com or give us a call at 970-927-4629, 970-927-4563 or 970-963-6106. Or stop by Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until noon and check it out. We’ll be there preparing for another great growing season.
