Letter: Felony DUI proposal a no-brainer

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but Tom Silverman’s letter left me wondering. Why would anyone be “vehemently” against making habitual drunk driving a felony? This bill would not impose a felony until the third DUI within seven years and for a fourth in a lifetime.

Why would a reasonable person oppose such a law? I found my answer in the Yellow Pages. Tom forgot to mention that he makes his living getting drunken miscreants off with a slap on the wrist.

People who repeatedly put their fellow citizens in mortal danger by their irresponsible behavior deserve to be charged as a felon and sent to prison.

As for the lawyers who get them off, I won’t tell you what I think they deserve.
