Editorial was off key

The Times editorial (April 25) praising louder and later noise downtown was tone deaf.

Try to remember that “messy vitality” included the idea of real working locals living downtown. Not every downtown resident is a billionaire newcomer in a ritzy penthouse. Many modest units are home to locals who have lived and worked here for decades. Does the right to raise hell trump the right of folks to rest before another long day of serving tourists?

The Belly Up entertains rowdy crowds night after night yet contains the noise within their space. Does anyone think that place is boring?

There are solutions that are fair, but you sound gleeful about a one-sided approach: Make life hell for downtown residents; they deserve no consideration.
