Letter: Clients direct development projects
Editor’s note: The following reference to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was a result of an editing error at The Aspen Times and not a mistake by the writer of the cited letter.
In his letter of June 14, Gerry Terwilliger cites the ownership of the property as being the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“Something fishy in Basalt,” The Aspen Times).
In fact, the owner of the property in question is the Community Development Corp., a local nonprofit.
It enhances credibility to get the facts right.
As for the planning efforts on the former Pan and Fork site, now owned by Community Development Corp., it should be clear that land planners undertake assignments as directed by the client.
In this case, the client is the town, and thus Cottle Carr Yaw Architects is responsive to what the client/town directs, not the personal whims of Cottle Carr Yaw principals or anyone else.
Hence, the fact that Cottle Carr Yaw Architects did earlier work for Lowe Enterprises in no way reflects on the product produced under the direction of the current client — the town.
Nothing fishy here at all, except maybe how the Centers for Disease Control got into the act.
