Letter: Choose women for Basalt
Want to end the gridlock on the Basalt Town Council? Then elect more women to the council. Study after study in recent years has shown that women are more cooperative, better collaborators and more skilled consensus-builders than their male counterparts. The current mix on the Basalt Town Council is six men and one woman. Not so good. However, there are three women — Jacque Whitsitt for mayor and Katie Schwoerer and Jenn Riffle for council positions — on the ballot in the upcoming election. Elect these three women, and the council dynamic will change in a heartbeat to four men and three women — with one of the women being mayor. Not so bad.
Let’s end the gridlock — vote for the women on Election Day, April 5.
