Brush Creek embraces compost program
Kudos to the residents of the Brush Creek subdivision who have begun participating in the curb-side compost program! Brush Creek (and hopefully many more subdivisions to follow) has collaborated with the city of Aspen Environmental Health and Sustainability Department and contracted with EverGreen Events to establish compost collection as part of the neighborhood’s waste-reduction efforts.
Residents can bring their compostable materials to a collection point that is picked up and taken to the Pitkin County Solid Waste Center’s municipal compost facility each week. Participants have reduced the amount of waste being buried in the landfill, as well as reduced the production of methane, a greenhouse gas 20 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. Congratulations and thanks for embracing this new program.
