Letter: Black-skier dollars going elsewhere

Around this time during the winter ski season, the Aspen-Snowmass combine salivates for and racks up substantial pecuniary gains from Judge Joe Brown and the National Brotherhood of Skiers — isn’t that right?

The National Brotherhood of Skiers is headquartered in Chi-Town. That’s Chicago.

This year, from Feb. 27 to March 5, the National Brotherhood of Skiers will have its annual meeting and Challenge Cup, aka the 2016 Black Ski Mini Summit, at Vail Resorts’ Heavenly Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe, California.

Furthermore, let us take into more serious account that the Aspen-Snowmass Village combine lost its easily expected dollar cascades and appears to falter in attracting moneyed black ski clubs from near and far: the 2015 Eastern Region Early Season Warm-Up in December at Vail Resorts’ Breckenridge Ski Resort, the Western and Rocky Mountain regions’ Urban Winterfest 2016 in January at Mammoth Mountain in California, and the 2016 Midwest region Winterfest in March 2016 at Big Sky Ski Resort in Montana.

Then there’s the Florida Ski Council, which didn’t entertain the Aspen-Snowmass Village combine as you think about lost possible monetary profits.

How much do the racist filth and racist put-downs by local white newspaper columnists contribute to Aspen Skiing Co.’s difficulties capturing significant revenue from the black skiers market?

How much do bad manners, insulting conversations and offending body language contribute to Skico’s trouble in successfully meeting the high expectations and comfort zones of the black skiers market?

I say let Skico make big bucks training the local business owners, managers and their employees. This ski-resort operator did a good job training the local airport workers. Enough of sloppy, cruddy, caveman business practices, manners, services, products, storefront facades and interior decor! Let’s get rid of the filth and garbage passed off as luxurious and/or fashionable taste!

Let all of us Southerners assert our legendary good manners and stellar American traditions and customs in the Aspen sphere of influence. We’ve got taste and class! Without my home state of Maryland, there is no Dixie! Let’s get busy!
