Letter: Be smart about speed
After 30-plus years of skiing on Aspen Mountain, I finally got hit from behind. Total yard sale at the bottom of Little Nell. All our gear was way uphill, so the guy who hit me must have been going incredibly fast. Both of us came out with minor bumps and bruises and an apology was made. So now you think I’m going to talk of the evils of skiing fast. Wrong. I love skiing fast, but there is a time and place to do so. If you’re on a trail and want to go fast, go for it as long as it’s clear. If not, pull over and wait till it does clear. Just when you think you’ve got that downhill skirt figured out, they may do something to surprise you, like a right and then another right turn and bang, you’re both down. Just ski smart.
