Letter: Aspen Valley Hospital comes through

Aspen Valley Hospital comes through

Dear Editor:

Go figure! It’s July 2, I’m 80 years old and I still have my appendix. Now it’s 1 a.m. on July 3, I am rushed to Aspen Valley Hospital ER and after a CT scan I’m told I have a severely leaking appendix that has to be removed immediately.

I no longer have my appendix. They said I was a pretty sick puppy.

It’s 12 days later and I’ve just been released from the hospital after 84 antibiotic IV transfusions, 36 injections of whatever, and too many pills to remember.

What I do remember is the skilled, efficient, compassionate care I received at our Hospital from my arrival at the ER, through the tedious, scary, 12-day stay.

Never was there a need or want that wasn’t provided immediately with care, warmth, and encouragement. What a place! I would put it up against any other like facility in the country, hands down.

I am aware of all the contentious iterations that have and are occurring about the hospitals expansion and staffing. They will get resolved.

Please, Aspen, recognize what a blessed gem we have in Aspen Valley Hospital and the dedication of its staff. They are there 24/7, unsung heroes who I will never forget and forever be thankful for.

Please permit me to recognize and thank all those who served me during my stay.

Jay Kuhne
