Letter: Artistic altruism

The volunteers of the Thrift Shop of Aspen look forward to welcoming the public to the third annual Art and Collectables Sale on July 30. Our Aladdin’s Cave of treasure will be open for one beautiful and fascinating day of business at the Red Brick Center for the Arts at 110 E. Hallam St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year, thanks to the generosity of our community, we have exceptional signed works of art (including some of very rare local interest), wonderful movie posters, beautiful museum-quality ethnic items, jewelry and cool artistic and antique ephemera. There will be treasures for every budget and silent-auction items, too.

This is a great time to donate special art to the Thrift Shop; we will present it well and find great buyers for it. And donors will have the satisfaction of knowing that their gifts will generate much-needed funding for valley nonprofits, as 100 percent of proceeds from the sale go to our grant-making! We are looking for high-quality artistic works, in excellent condition, particularly signed or with information about the artist. Members of the public who would like to donate to the art sale and want more information about how to do so should email us at art@aspenthriftshop.org.
