Art on its way in Basalt

Thank you for the informative article about the arts expansion in Basalt. As a gallery owner, art dealer and the current board president of the Wyly Community Arts Center, to say I’m interested in the arts is an understatement. The arts bring people to our valley and their experience here is deeper for it. Cultural activities make us more human; better able to appreciate the natural and man-made beauty all around us.

I want to thank the Basalt Town Council and town manager for their time and interest Feb. 10. They are clearly sincere in their desire to make Basalt an even better place for all of us in the Roaring Fork Valley. They believe in the value of the arts and what it brings to our community. Thank you to the members of the Willits Arts Group and their steadfast efforts to bringing a performing-arts center to the midvalley. It is so close now, I can almost hear live music from Whole Foods. Thank you to the staff of the Wyly, and a very special thank-you goes to Kelly Alford, director of the Wyly and her tireless enthusiasm to growing the Wyly into a world-class art center.

Jay Magidson,

Basalt
