Letter: Advice and electrolytes

On Saturday, I was in Aspen to participate in the Susan G. Komen Ride for the Cure. As a cancer survivor, I was there to support a worthy cause as well as to attempt my first century ride. It was a perfect day for cycling in and around Aspen, and there was a great vibe among all the participants.

After riding 80 miles, I developed a leg cramp and wasn’t sure if I would be able to continue. Fortune smiled on me, however, when another cyclist, Glenn Kasin, stopped to ask if I was OK. When I told him about the cramping, he immediately offered me a water bottle full of electrolyte solution and his advice on how to proceed. His assistance and generous spirit enabled me to successfully finish the ride. Later I learned that Glenn spent several years working with professional cycling teams and is now helping people enjoy cycling through his Aspen business Pros in Motion. In what was a completely chance encounter, I discovered that Glenn is a true professional, and I’d say he represented his community in outstanding fashion. I know he sure made my ride in Aspen a success. Thanks, Glenn!
