Letter: A shameful display of piling on Krabloonik
A shameful display of piling on Krabloonik
Being a resident of Snowmass Village for over 26 years, I find it shameful to see our local paper (Snowmass Sun) jump on the bandwagon against Krabloonik. The publication of a picture on the back page, full page, mind you — of a dog chained to a box that came right from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals playbook — was a pathetic attempt to garner support for the misled crusade against a great restaurant and a good man who has worked very hard to continue to offer a unique experience to our guests who come from all over the world just to go to Krabloonik.
This was not a picture of a Krabloonik dog. This add was designed, as all American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals adds are, to generate sympathy, but more so contributions. For all you suckers who watch these adds on TV and rush to send them money so you can get a free T-shirt and a picture of a sad animal, please be aware that more than 80 cents of your dollar goes to salaries of those who supposedly “care” for these animals.
There has been no mention of the fact that over the years, Krabloonik has brought hundreds of thousands of dollars to our local economy, let alone the coffers of Snowmass Village and Pitkin County. In addition, no one seems to realize that animals in the United States are treated in a more humane way than in any other country in the world.
What seems even more shameful is that the people that are “on the bandwagon” and talk of boycotts and such, treat animals with more respect than people, a fact that seems to be so prevalent in this county — a very sad reflection on “humanity.”
