Letter: A Memorial Day thank you

A Memorial Day thank you

What a day. I’ll try and list the people and events that made it so special.

Louie’s Swiss Bakery; the coffee and sweet rolls “are on us.” Nice threat!

Brandon and KSPN; Thanks for the air time.

To the anonymous individual who bought breakfast for us. A very public thank you!

Streets Department; the American flags on Main Street were beautiful.

Mark and Glenn: Memorial site set up; Thanks a bunch!

Lee Sullivan and the sound system upgrade: Sweet!

CRO’s; The street closure is huge. Many thanks.

To the Pitkin County Commissioners: The new flag poles are beautiful. Thanks.

Father Brice: words of comfort and remembrance. Thank You.

Huts for Vets: Carry on Paul Andersen; and Jerry Alpern for “Make Sure it’s Me” Very powerful.

Tom Buesch and Bruce Keim: Their Colorado Mountain College program is badly needed and appreciated.

Jeannie and Richard; Beautiful, as usual!

Mayor Skadron, Peter Hoffman and Pepper Gomez; Lovely awards for the Colonel!

Thanks to those individuals who came forward and shared their stories; very touching!

Charles Bailey; Amazing Grace on the bagpipes was powerful. Thanks.

The Elks: You gals and guys are the best.

Several people have said this was a great ceremony. Yes, it was, and I agree 100 percent. This is due entirely to the many individuals who showed up and to those who were part of the program. You represent the best of Aspen and did our fallen soldiers proud. Thank you!

To the Colonel; what a pleasure to be part of this tradition with you. Semper Fi.

A final thank you to those veterans who paid the ultimate price. Forever remembered and never forgotten!
