Letter: A groovin’ summer in Basalt
On behalf of the Basalt Downtown Business Association, we would like to thank our community — locals and visitors alike — for turning out this summer to eat, shop and play in Basalt. East and west Basalt are both hopping with new businesses and old favorites. The Basalt Sunday Market is in full swing with food and craft vendors, a bounce house and great music. Our downtown Lions Park is the setting for Wednesday night concerts, put together by the esteemed Marc Breslin and featuring bands from the valley and beyond. Last Friday night was Basalt’s Country Dance and Feed, and with tunes by the Caleb Dean Band, practically the whole town was two-stepping and line dancing until dark. And the food! Special thanks to the Methodist Church for their eye-popping, off-the-chart freshly baked pies, and to Cucina del Valle, Tempranillo and Slow Groovin’ BBQ for providing mouth-watering dinners. And to the Wyly Art Center for libations. Dancing, bull-riding (the mechanical kind), summertime getting together — all happening in downtown Basalt. Hope to see you soon.
