Letter: A great benefit on Aspen Mountain
I would like to thank all of the wonderful people who attended and helped with the fundraiser at the Buckhorn Cabin on April 1. Despite some iffy weather, we were able to raise just under $2,000 for Challenge Aspen. This is the third year we have hosted this event, and every year it gets a bit bigger and a bit more complicated to pull off. We would not have been able to do so without the wonderful people of this fine burg! For those of you who missed it, we had a $20 all you can eat, drink and dance up at the Buckhorn Cabin of the famous Buckhorn run on Aspen Mountain. Great burgers, chicken and dogs were generously donated from Bootsy Bellows, Shamrock Foods and Ryno’s Pies and Pints. Beverage support came from Jeremy Parker and Mountain Beverage, Bo Weinglass of Bo’s Parking Service and of course Roaring Fork Brewing! A special thanks to Trent Battle and Michael Goldman for being the grill masters, to Irene Sheehan and Pat Wynn for tending the Red Bull bar donated by Red Bull and to Tara Spung. A very special thanks to Aspen Skiing Co. for allowing us to hold this event and change the lives of a few lucky people who come to Aspen as a direct result of our fundraising efforts. And the most special of thanks to the patrollers on Aspen Mountain, and the biggest thank-you to the cat drivers on Aspen Mountain — without you guys, we never would have been able to pull this amazing event off. So proud to be involved with this event and this community! Mark your calendars for the first Wednesday of April next year, folks.
