Letter: A generous business
Many of Aspen’s businesses go above and beyond helping our community. Over the years, the Ute Mountaineer has been one of those, and it has done it again. I am the coach of the Aspen Middle School Nordic Club, which we founded to give all fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade kids in the Roaring Fork Valley the opportunity to cross-country ski for free on Wednesdays after school. Aspen Middle School has a quiver of classic ski equipment we loan to the kids daily for the club. I made mention to Paul Pearly, the manager of the Ute Mountaineer, and Bob Wade, the owner, of my desire to find some skate-ski equipment for the kids. It was all it took for them once again to step up to the plate. We now have 10 sets of fanatic skate skis, poles and boots to loan out for the club and all Aspen Middle School student ski events. Thanks from all of us to the Ute Mountaineer!
