Let the people decide on city building

If Ward Hauenstein really wants to put an end to the controversy over the new “Temple of Bureaucratic Empire Building,” why doesn’t he just put it to a vote? If he won’t do that because he believes the people don’t want it, then he has no business advocating for it to begin with. That’s called democracy. Whatever happened to the First Amendment, anyway? You know, where it says: Congress shall make no law respecting the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.” Not some law limiting rights to a few days — but no law.
