Compassion in the face of grief
Just as there are no words to describe the depth of the loss of Emily Thomas, there are no words to describe her family's appreciation for the support that this community has given and continues to give to her parents, Paul and Sara Thomas, as well as to her brother, Matt Thomas.
I would like to express my gratitude, on behalf of their extended family, for the care and concern you have given. Although we live a thousand miles away, we can take comfort in knowing that this community surrounds our loved ones.
"Thank you" will never say enough.

Thankful for Philippine relief
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Philippine relief effort. I am overwhelmed by your generosity. I live far from my home country, but Aspen is my adopted hometown, and I am proud to be a resident.
All of the funds will be donated directly to the Kapuso Foundation, the most trusted charity organization in the Philippines. The Kapuso Foundation assisted with relief efforts immediately after Typhoon Haiyan and continues to provide crucial support to families and communities in the aftermath. Every dollar will make an enormous impact in the lives and in the hearts of the Filipinos. On behalf of all the people who will benefit from this, I thank you.
Thrift Shop gives back
Every month, members of The Thrift Shop of Aspen meet to continue to accomplish our mission: to make grants to other nonprofit organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley. We are grateful to all the community members who continue to support our efforts by donating and purchasing gently used clothing and household items. For the month of December, we are pleased to announce the following recipients: Aspen Writers' Foundation, Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, Forest Conservancy, Aspen Hope Center, ACES, The Buddy Program, Executive Service Corps, Third Street Center, Homecare and Hospice of the Valley, and Grassroots TV.
