Thanks to Jill Sheeley for supporting youth writing
The students and staff at Aspen Elementary School extend a huge thank you to local author Jill Sheeley! For 17 years in a row, Jill has provided an opportunity for all third- and fourth-grade students to enter the Fraser Creative Writing Contest. This year over 70 students entered the contest by submitting an original story. Their efforts were recognized at a recent assembly where cheers filled the district theater as each child's name was announced. Thank you, Jill, for your vision and energy throughout the many years!
Flamingo takes a village; thank you, Aspen
As chairs of the Aspen Education Foundation event committee, we are humbled by the incredible generosity of the Aspen community and want to express our sincere gratitude. The outpouring of time, energy and resources to successfully execute the 2018 Flamingo event was unprecedented. Hats off to the entire Aspen Education Foundation event committee for leveraging your networks to secure fabulous auction items. Our honorary co-chairs Kellie Carlson, Michelle Dioguardi, Michelle Goldberg and Sarah Sohn were a devoted team. You rocked it!

We want to extend a special thank you to the Chefs Club at the St. Regis. They flawlessly executed the champagne reception, with Chef Todd Slossberg and Jonathon Pullis at the helm. This aspect of Flamingo is deeply appreciated by not only the teachers but our entire community. In addition, the St. Regis team created a large-scale event of impeccable quality. We felt supported by your entire staff and are grateful for your attention to every detail.
Flamingo would not fulfill its goal as a fundraiser without the generosity of community members that donated valuable items to the silent and live auctions. From art to clothing/jewelry, to private jets and stays at Exclusive Resorts across the globe — your donations are deeply appreciated.
We also would like to express gratitude for our 20 Aspen Education Foundation Board of Directors. You continuously support the viability of the organization with your vision for Aspen School District.
Last but not least, we recognize Aspen Education Foundation's fearless leader Brooke Bedingfield, as well as staff member Illeana Morales. Their two-woman team accomplishes more than you can possibly imagine.
Together as a community we have raised over $12 million dollars to support Aspen public schools over the past 27 years. It is your continuous support that gives our children life-changing educational opportunities.

Thank you Iron Fly contributors
Roaring Fork Valley Fly Fishing Club and Roaring Fork Conservancy would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, competitors, judges and spectators that made the third annual Iron Fly Competition such a successful and fun event. This year, the youth division fielded 20 competitors from Aspen to New Castle, ages 7 to 13, who represented the next generation of Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valley anglers. Several anonymous donors ensured each youth participant went home with a new Orvis fishing pack. In addition, 14 adult competitors from Aspen to New Castle went hook to hook with each other to test their skills.
Iron Fly is an event that combines fly tying with a little, friendly competition and a whole lot of fun! Competitors were provided unconventional materials that had to be used in each fly. The top three winners in each division were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals, along with some fun prizes, and serious bragging rights for the next year!
Adult division winners:
Gold: Andrew Soliday
Silver: Bret Beauchamp
Bronze: Harry Portland
Youth Division winners:
Gold: Drake H. (age 13)
Silver: Gracie C. (age 7)
Bronze: Gavin G. (age 12)
Thank you to our sponsors who made this possible. Proceeds support youth fishing camps and clinics through the Roaring Fork Valley.

Valley View staff is wonderful
Thanks to the wonderful staff, nurses, doctors of the Respiratory Center at Valley View Hospital.
I recently contracted the flu and then pneumonia and stayed six days in the Acute Care Ward. There are many people to thank for the great care that I received. Thank you Dr. Khilani, Dr. York, Dr. Mauer, all the staff of the Respiratory Center and the wonderful nurses who attended to my every need and came and went with such friendly demeanor and professionalism. We are so very fortunate to have such an amazing hospital as Valley View with some of the best doctors, nurses and staff. To everyone I say a very heartfelt thank you for all you did for me!
