Keep Annex Gallery thriving in Basalt
Many of us here in Basalt have been invigorated by the new possibilities and events of a growing arts economy. The Arts Campus in Willits is under way in its fundraising to break ground in 2018. The Basalt Public Art Commission is launching its first public art events in June and the Art Base offers classes, exhibitions and a center for creators of all ages, including the dynamic Annex Gallery on Main Street.
For the past year and a half, restaurants, shops and other galleries have had “best nights ever” during their opening events. Sadly, the Annex Gallery closed last month due to the loss of its lease. This is a huge blow to our momentum as a town.
I’m writing in hopes that a community member out there knows of another space available for rent (or gift?) that can keep the Annex Gallery and our town thriving.
