Climate change hits home

Thank you to the Pitkin County commissioners for their frank courage in highlighting the reality of climate change in a full-page ad Tuesday. It was shocking to read that winter in Aspen is now one month shorter than in was in 1980. That is a huge change in a short time.

I am thinking about the ermines, the crossbills, the black bears, the beavers, the gray jays, and pine martens: all the birds and animals that depend on the climate and environment they evolved within. It isn’t just about skiing (beloved by all of us), it’s about the vitality and beauty of life itself on earth.
