More scrutiny for Aspen city offices

Dear Mayor Skadron and City Council members,

Thank goodness Aspen’s mayor and City Council at a public hearing today are bound to judge the proposed new city offices on Galena Plaza and in the city-owned parking lots by the review criteria established in the Civic Master Plan — a regulatory document adopted by Ordinance No. 46, series of 2006, on Dec. 11, 2006.

Pursuant to Section 26.100.104(A) of Aspen Municipal Code, all land-use applications for any site evaluated in the Civic Master Plan must demonstrate “consistency” with the plan’s findings, recommendations or eight core principles and the relevant portions of the Aspen Area Community Plan.
