Letters: Stop developers, vote ‘yes’

On Friday, I heard on Aspen Public Radio that developers are rushing to apply for building permits prior to the election on Referendum 1. I heard that they are afraid that Referendum 1 will pass and City Council will not be able to grant variances without a public vote. Apparently, a lot of applications for building projects are soon to cascade upon Aspen. This possibility alone demonstrates how developers see the situation: cash in now while old rules still apply and get your variances while you can. Stand up to the plate, City Council, and don’t cave to the pressure of Mark Hunt’s or any other developer’s variance-loaded building applications submitted with the intention of bypassing Referendum 1.

Vote “yes” on Referendum 1
