Letter: Why not support Referendum 1?

One would think the Aspen City Council should be cheering for Referendum 1, as it would relieve them of a large portion of their current workload devoted to consideration of requests for building variances. One also would expect the number of requests for such variances to drop significantly if subject to a public vote, thus simplifying life for all.
